SRBP Works in partnership with Restoration of our Trees Sheboygan (ROOTS) to mitigate the impact of the Emerald Ash borer on Sheboygan’s Tree Canopy.  ROOTS is a joint initiative to build a broad based, multi-community public-private sector collaboration to proactively address the EAB threat to Sheboygan County’s rich forestry resources.

Ash trees make up a significant portion of the tree canopy in the Sheboygan River Basin, and this tree canopy is essential to the health of our watersheds and provides valuable benefits to our community.  These benefits include things like, energy savings, stormwater runoff reduction, the removal of CO2 and other air pollutants, stormwater infiltration and improved water quality.  Other benefits that may be harder to quantify include like stress reduction, recreational opportunities, stronger communities, and better business.
